City of Surrey Parks department will be treating the invasive plant Knotweed on August 27^th in and around the bike park at Invergarry Park.  The Knotweed will be spot sprayed or injected with Roundup herbicide (glyphosate).  Only the Knotweed will be treated.  Notices will be posted at the entrances to the bike park, at the kiosk and throughout the bike park.  Postings will go up on August 26^th and will be removed on August 29^th.  Application of the herbicide will be weather dependant.  If it is raining the treatment will need to be postponed.  The herbicide applications will be done by a certified applicator and as per Provincial, Federal and City of Surrey policies and regulations.

SORCE bike club and the City of Surrey are teaming up in a big way... The new trails built by Alpine Bike Parks are complete and we are having a party to celebrate! The festivities begin at 10am Sunday August 17 (we know its the last day of Crankworx but you should come to this instead!). Alpine Bike Parks will be hosting a dig day from 10am-12. We are going to add some new features to the green trail Little Shredder. There will be a Ribbon cutting ceremony @ Noon. Then its time for food and drinks followed by a jump jam. We have lots of great prizes to giveaway from our sponsors and a WeThePeople bmx to raffle off!!!! We hope to see you there. Keep your eyes on our facebook page for more info as it develops!

The 2014 SORCE kids race at South Surrey Bike Park has been rescheduled. It will take place on October 5. The race course will be the on the BLT (beginner loop trail). Registration (coming soon) will be online at http://www.webscorer.com/SORCE

2. SSBP planning - motion carried to ask COS to use Alpine for planning or potentially open a bid process. Intent to execute plan for 2014 DJ rebuild and other trail building activities
3. Kids race - Rescheduled for October 5
4. Invergarry - Trail day planned July 1, opening day celebrationAug 17th
5. Bike camps - review Oasis policy for insurance. Based upon premise that camp activities are covered as long as participants are SORCE members. Thus membership included with camp.
6. Women’s camps planned for early fall

7. Tour de White Rock - SORCE tent July 12th
8. Sponsorship - need to collect on sponsorship commitments from Peninsula, Velocity, Rocky, Central City, Bike Zone

The SORCE pumptrack race series is back for 2014! The first round is at the Invergarry pump track July 6. All ages and all skill levels welcome. A trail day to buff the jumps and finish the new pump track that will be machine built next week is happening June 8. Come help out! Bring a shovel and water for yourself. We will supply food and drinks. Lucky trails are located in Port Kells park in Surrey BC

SORCE meeting Minutes May 9 2014

1. Vote to approve last meeting minutes: Approved
2. Kids race June 8. The race course will be the BLT trail. Motion to mail advert to schools vote: passed

4. Motion to accept Dale Tiessen as new President: Approved
5.SSBP update: overall site plan by professional bike park company is moving forward. recent SSBP toonie race was a success despite terrible weather we sold a good number of new jerseys and tees.
6. Invergarry update: Alpine bike parks is currently finishing machine work & is nearly ready for hand packing and shaping. SORCE/Alpine will team up for some light trail days in the future when Alpine lets us know. The new trails feature a number of Flow Form features like wall rides, rainbows, table top and step up jumps and will be open to the public Summer 2014. We are looking to combine the Invergarry pumptrack race and grand opening of the new trails on July 6.
7.Port Kells park update:a recent meeting between the City of Surrey and SORCE. We are reshaping and expanding the pump track to cater to beginner intermediate riders. We are going to receive a new lockbox on a concrete pad to prevent theft from digging under the box. The City will reoreint the entrance/perimeter wood fence. SORCE will hold a trail day June 8 after the machines are done. We intend to buff the jumps and new pump track.
8.MEC bikefest. SORCE will have a tent at the MEC bikefest at the Langley location May 31. We intend to promote SORCE& SORCE events, sell jerseys & Tees and giveaway prizes and free stickers
